This silver bracelet is bench-made by Sümer Telkari in Midyat, the silversmithing town of Mardin province in south-eastern Turkey. Telkâri, meaning filigree, gives the piece its openwork: fine silver threads curled and joined one by one. Its subject is the şahmeran, the mythical serpent queen whose image has decorated Mardin silver for centuries. The workshop's own site carries the remaining specifications.
