Sümer Telkari works this silver piece in Midyat, a Mardin town whose silver trade goes back many generations. The weave is kazaziye, hand-plaited silver wire worked without a mould into a supple braided body. The evil-eye bead, a protective emblem across Anatolia, is worked into the piece.
