The Sümer Telkari workshop in Midyat, part of Mardin province in south-eastern Turkey, produces this coordinated jewellery set by hand. It is worked in telkâri, the wire filigree technique that fills a silver frame with tiny curled threads. Its vav motif takes the Arabic letter, a favourite shape in Ottoman calligraphic ornament.
