The Sümer Telkari workshop in Midyat, part of Mardin province in south-eastern Turkey, produces this silver necklace by hand. Telkâri filigree, where thin silver wire is drawn, wound and fused into airy pattern, shapes the whole surface. The tulip is a classic Ottoman ornament, stylised rather than drawn from life.
